Blue Moon
A blue moon has three definitions: a monthly blue moon, a seasonal blue moon, and an actual blue moon. A monthly blue moon is the second full moon of a two full moon month. A seasonal blue moon is the third full moon of an astronomical season with four full moons. An actual moon that is coloured blue is very rare. It can happen if there are enough dust and smoke particles in the air of a certain size. This is called Mie scattering. Blue moons happen every two or three years.
